Ocean City Girls Soccer Team Captures Conference Title

The Ocean City High School girls soccer team, coming off an overtime win against Millville in the first round, defeated visiting Mainland, 2-0, to capture the Cape Atlantic League championship Monday. Kasey McDonnell and Summer Reimet both scored for the Red Raiders, who avenged their overtime loss to Mainland less than a week ago on the same field.

E. Marie Hayes Recognized as County “Commissioner of the Year”

The New Jersey Association of Counties recognized Cape May County Commissioner E. Marie Hayes as "County Commissioner of the Year" at the annual convention held in Atlantic City on Oct. 12-13. Hayes, of Ocean City, was presented with the Maurice Fitzgibbons Commissioner of the Year Award.

O.C. Crew “Back Bay Chase Race” Makes Splashy Debut

The inaugural Ocean City High School Crew Back Bay Chase Race was held Saturday morning on the waterways south of the 34th Street Bridge. The Ocean City Women’s Varsity 1 boat took first in their division. The Ocean City Men’s Varsity 1 boat took second in their division behind St. Augustine Prep.

With Community’s Backing, “Coach H” Continues Her Fight Against Cancer

Anyone who has stopped by a field hockey game in Ocean City over the past 10 years or so has inevitably noticed Mikenzie Helphenstine standing along the sidelines. A decorated player during her tenure as a Red Raider in the late 1990s, Helphenstine has continued to be a fixture with Ocean City field hockey for much of the past 20 years. So on Thursday, after a 4-1 victory over rival Mainland, the Ocean City field hockey program – past and present – took time to honor Helphenstine, affectionately known as “Coach H,” for her dedication and commitment to the program and her strength and determination to continue her fight against breast cancer.

Ocean City Field Hockey Beats Rival Mainland

The Ocean City field hockey team defeated Mainland 4-1 on Thursday afternoon in front of their home fans for their annual pink game to raise awareness for breast cancer. The victory extended their winning streak to 11 games and improved their record to 14-1. Mainland dropped to 8-7-1 on the season. Julia Neff led all scorers with one goal and two assists. Sophia Tucker, Camryn Flynn and Carly Hanin each added a goal, while Nicole Carey contributed an assist.

Ocean City Drops Double-OT Heartbreaker in Girls Soccer

The Ocean City High School girls soccer team suffered a heartbreaking, double-overtime 1-0 loss to conference rival Mainland on Tuesday afternoon at Carey Stadium. It was the first loss Ocean City has suffered since September of 2019, breaking its 45-game unbeaten streak.

Porsche Show and HERO Walk Highlight Weekend in Ocean City

The Ocean City Boardwalk will be the scene of two major events this weekend: The Porsche Boardwalk Reunion on Saturday and the HERO Walk on Sunday. More than 350 Porsches of all models from 1954 to 2021 will be on display on the Boardwalk between Fifth Street and 14th Street from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, as part of the Porsche Boardwalk Reunion. Meanwhile, the John R. Elliott HERO Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run on the Boardwalk will take place on Sunday, October 17. More details follow.
