Among the parishioners at Shiloh Baptist Church, she is affectionately known as Miss Moore or Mother Moore. Both her age and the deep respect shown to her by church members have made 97-year-old Juanita Moore the spiritual mother of Shiloh Baptist, one of Ocean City’s oldest houses of worship.

Mayor’s Update: Aug. 17

Like many seasonal businesses, the Ocean City Beach Patrol will lose staff this month as students, athletes and teachers return to school. As of Monday, the beach patrol will end lifeguard protection for the season at the following beaches: Seaview Road, Waverly Boulevard (the surfing beach), Atlantic Boulevard, 13th Street, 16th Street (surfing), 17th Street, 20th Street, 48th Street and 60th Street.

Ocean City Reduces Number of Guarded Beaches Beginning Aug. 20
