If you’re like most people, the day moves fast and is filled to the max with family, friends, work, hobbies and life. Most of us are too occupied with day-to-day living to spend much time thinking about tomorrow’s finances.

If you want to enjoy a secure financial future, the time to start making key decisions is now.

“There’s no shame in not having all of your financial plans in place. Everyday life gets in the way of making long-term decisions on things like college saving, retirement planning, insurance and investment management. I see it every day.” says Mark Reimet, Financial Planner and Owner of Ocean City Financial Group.

Reimet opened Ocean City Financial Group in 1997 after recognizing a need for long-term financial planning among the residents.

“Ocean City’s population of retirees, young families and business owners want local advisors who are familiar with this unique market. There’s security in knowing that you can pop into our office on Asbury Avenue anytime, with even the smallest question. And because we too live, work and play in Ocean City, our clients trust that we have the best interest for them and for our community.”

Ocean City Financial Group’s niche is three-fold:

  • Advising families on risk management and investment planning needs
  • Working with business owners on employee benefits and retirement planning
  • Assisting retirees with investment and estate planning needs

“Even people who have significant resources fail to implement a well-planned financial strategy,” says Reimet. “We help our clients bring their financial picture into focus in the low-pressure, no-judgements, friendly environment that you’d expect from an Ocean City family-owned business.”

Reimet and Booth are trusted advisors to many of Ocean City’s residents. Retired Navy Admiral and former City Councilman Ron Denney has been a client for nearly 20 years.

“When I first moved to Ocean City I needed a local financial planner that I could trust. I did my research and was very impressed when I met Mark,” says Denney. “He is extremely conscientious about what he does, he has a super foundation and a super family. I think very highly of him, his partner Jodie Booth and how they run the company. Mark has been a great resource, and has also become a great friend.”

Reimet began his financial services career in 1988, after graduating from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He gained valuable experience working with his Dad and mentor, a financial consultant with over 38 years of experience. From their suburban Philadelphia office, Reimet went on to establish new regional offices in Berks and Lancaster Counties, as well as spending time working on Wall Street.

In 1997, Reimet opened the office in Ocean City and established a relationship with MassMutual Financial Group, a Fortune ® 500 company (FORTUNE® Magazine, 6/16/14) and one of the world’s most admired companies.

He first brought on his business partner Jodie Booth as a summer intern in 2003 on the referral of attorney Joel Mott. “I’ve known Jodie and her family since she was a kid,” says Mott. “I recommended her to Mark because I knew her to be very professional, organized and driven. I thought she would be the perfect fit to help Mark grow the business.”

It didn’t take long for Reimet to recognize her unique strengths and talents. She joined the team immediately after graduating with Honors from Stockton University with a BS in Finance.

Booth’s niche is helping families and individuals plan for their futures. “Jodie grew up in the area, knows many of our clients on a personal level and is deeply connected to the community,” says Reimet. “She has had tremendous success helping our clients protect their most important assets, accumulate wealth, and make sound financial decisions for their futures.”

“Even though I know Jodie personally, our meetings are always very professional,” Mott adds. “I’ve watched Jodie go from being a success on the softball field as a kid to a success in her business.  Both Mark and Jodie have great ideas, are thorough and quick to follow-up.  I’m proud to be their long-time client.” Likewise, Reimet and Booth call Mott a “pivotal mentor, someone who has been a sounding board and trusted advisor for our ideas.”

Mary Adams, Susan Smith and Dana Linthicum round out the Ocean City Financial Group team, handling administrative services, payroll and marketing respectively. And they consistently bring on summer interns to give young students real-world experience.

Additionally, being tied to the Philadelphia MassMutual office means that Reimet’s team is backed by more than 100 additional advisors. The Philadelphia office provides compliance review to ensure that every client’s best interests are being met.

The trusted and friendly vibe isn’t the only reason to check out Ocean City Financial Group. Located on the top floor of the Crown Building in the heart of downtown, OCFG boasts some of the best views of the island. ‘We have a bird’s eye view of Ocean City. It’s a feel-good environment for our staff and clients.”

Looking over the city is a constant reminder to Reimet and Booth of their commitment to the community. “We fully recognize that Ocean City is much more than a place to do business. It’s where we raise our families and foster friendships. We believe we have a responsibility to give back. We coach youth sports, help organize cultural events, serve on charitable boards, raise funds for hospitals and schools, and volunteer whenever we can to make the Ocean City region even better.”

So if you see Reimet on the OCYAA baseball field or Booth at a fundraiser, don’t be afraid to ask them any financial question you may have. Or email your financial questions to dana@ocfg.net and Reimet or Booth will reach out to you personally with an answer.

Because it’s never too soon to start focusing tomorrow.
