OCBP Then and Now: Rookie Tryouts

Five years ago, Ocean City Beach Patrol’s Chief Tom Mullineaux hired these men and women as rookie lifeguards after they scored high in the swimming, rowing and running tests: (from left, front row) Stephen Shultz,  Jack Bergen, Kelly Scheirer, Amanda Zipf, Kaela Woods, Scott Horner; middle row, Matt Rinck, Sean McCann, Alex Grubbs, Carly Wray, Ryan Corey, Liam Layden, Kyle Everson; and standing, Matt Gruszecki, Jeff Woodard, Alex Utts, Junior Filemban, Casey Dillon, and Brian Brady.

The 2015 OCBP tryouts will be held Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. on the First Street beach. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 10:00 a.m. Rookie candidates must be at least 16 years old. An application form can be picked up at City Hall or at www.ocnj.us/employment. Starting lifeguard pay is $11.28 an hour.
