A program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at Ocean City High School’s Performing Arts Center at 1.pm on Jan. 16.

The annual celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will begin at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the Hughes Performing Arts Center of the Ocean City High School.

There will be a performance by the Spirit of Light Praise Team of Christ Care Baptist Church.  Rev. Stephen Donat of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church will read scripture and Rev. Anna Livingston of Shiloh Baptist Church will make an invocation. Mayor Jay A. Gillian and elected officials will speak in the program. Ocean City Intermediate School essay winners will read reflections.

There will be a soul food dinner after the program.

This year will mark the 26th year of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations in the county. Intermediate school teacher Rozelia Cobb was the first to organize a birthday celebration.
