There are so many amazing places to eat and shop at in Ocean City, it can be hard to branch out and find places outside of your “usual”. Among the mainstream businesses there is a plethora of “hidden gems” throughout the town. Everything from ice cream shops to boutiques, there is something for everyone. When you are looking for a tasty but healthy treat you have to try Spoon & Sip, located on Asbury Avenue. It is a new business that has a unique story. Store owner, Britney Stein, grew up in Ocean City and always envisioned herself as a business owner. Over the past year, her dream came true. On December 1st, at the age of 19, she opened her very own café that specializes in healthy treats including frozen yogurt, smoothie bowls, juices, and smoothies. “Our big thing is personalization” Stein explained while talking about their philosophy. O.C. Intermediate School Creates Food Donation Boxes

For four weeks, the Ocean City Intermediate School has been working on a project to make food donation boxes. The boxes serve as a drop-off spot for renters who still have leftover non-perishable foods when they are finishing up their vacation, according to a press release. The boxes have been placed outside the school at 1801 Bay Avenue.

Skating, Surfing Superstar Sky Brown to Lead OC Baby Parade

Just because the Ocean City Baby Parade is 110 years old, doesn’t mean the event is behind the times. The City made that clear recently when it announced that one of the world’s most famous 10-year-olds would be the parade’s Grand Marshall and appear at several events in town. Skateboarding, surfing and dancing phenom Sky Brown, a Japanese-born citizen of Great Britain, who aims to become that country’s youngest-ever Olympian, is set to lead the Baby Parade. O.C. Fishing Club Hosts Special Campers

Special guests arrived Wednesday at Ocean City Fishing Club’s pier, as campers with New Jersey WAVE waited for a fish to strike. And when the first one was reeled in, the excitement was contagious. Smiles spread quickly through the group along with shouts, “He got one!” New Jersey Wonderful Adolescent Ventilator Excursion campers, who need special medical care such as medical ventilation, feeding tubes, or daily care, met some OCFC members who gave the group a chance to help catch a fish.

Plane Lands in Ocean City Marsh

A small plane attempted to land Sunday at Ocean City Municipal Airport but instead missed the runway and rolled off into the marsh, Ocean City police confirmed. The two people on board the single-engine Cessna were uninjured, said Sgt. Pat Randles, a police spokesman.

Springsteen Tribute Band Concert June 29 at Music Pier to Benefit...

The high-energy tribute band, “Bruce In The USA,” will appear at Ocean City’s Music Pier on Saturday, June 29, at 7 p.m. The concert promises a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band show. The event is sponsored by Ocean City American Legion Post 524, and proceeds benefit veterans and their families.

Mayor’s Message: June 21

Mayor Jay Gillian plans to talk to a rental service that has set up umbrellas and chairs on the Ninth Street beach. He hopes to reach a compromise that protects the rights of both the public and the private business for access to the beach, the mayor said in his weekly message Friday posted on the city's website. He noted that he has received "many inquiries" from the public about the beach rental service.

Youth Minister to Speak at O.C. Tabernacle

Bruce Main, founder of Urban Promise Ministries, adjunct professor at Eastern University and critically acclaimed author, is the featured speaker at the Ocean City Tabernacle for both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services this Sunday, June 23. Main founded Urban Promise, a ministry to provide safe, fun, creative places for local youth in under-resourced communities, in 1988 at the age of 25.

Special Weather Statement: Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect for Ocean City through 1 a.m. Friday. While flash flooding is a condition that typically occurs near rivers, Ocean City can experience similar conditions if heavy rain coincides with high tide.
