Tabernacle Welcomes Featured Speaker Steve Douglass on June 16

Steve Douglass, president of Campus Crusade for Christ International, will speak Sunday, June 16, at the Ocean City Tabernacle. Campus Crusade’s historic focus has been evangelism at colleges (now present at over 7,000 campuses), although the ministry also includes family life marriage conferences, Global Aid Network and Global Church Movements and beach evangelism and inner city ministry.

Commissioner of Education to Speak at OCHS Graduation

On Monday, June 17, the Ocean City School District will hold its annual commencement ceremony for the Ocean City High School Class of 2019. The ceremony will feature New Jersey Commissioner of Education Lamont Repollet as the keynote speaker. Graduation will take place at 4 p.m. at Carey Field.

First Ever “Bayside Family Day” Event Set for June 22 in...

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce and the back bay merchants in Ocean City will be hosting their first ever Bayside Family Day on Saturday, June 22, to help kick off the summer season. The event will be held at the dock and parking lot located at Second Street and Bay Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will highlight all that the bay businesses have to offer.

Surfing Legend Dean Randazzo Brings “Won’t Quit” Attitude to Paddle Race

On Saturday, local surf legend and cancer survivor Dean Randazzo joined paddlers from around the world in a 22.5-mile race around Absecon Island. The 12th annual Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Paddle For A Cause presented by Seashore Construction brought competitors and spectators to the Frank S. Farley State Marina at Golden Nugget Atlantic City for 22.5-mile and 8-mile races, and a 4-mile social paddle in kayaks, paddleboards, outrigger canoes and surf skis. Randazzo, of Ventnor, was recovering from a bout with Hodgkins Lymphoma when the inaugural event was conceived.

Miss Ocean City Pageant Seeks Contestants

The search to find the next Miss Ocean City has begun with the announcement of the application process for interested contestants in the Aug. 10 pageant. To be eligible to compete, young women must be between the ages of 16 and 22, and attend or have graduated from Ocean City High School or have parents who own property in Ocean City or a sending district to Ocean City High School (including Sea Isle City and Upper Township).

Ocean City American Legion to Celebrate 100th Anniversary With Concert

The annual American Legion Post 524 concert will be an even bigger event than in previous years. It will serve as a centerpiece of the American Legion's 100th anniversary celebration. Post 524 will host a concert at 7 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier on Saturday, June 29, featuring “Bruce in the USA,” a tribute band to Bruce Springsteen. Tickets are $35.

OCHS Grads Receive $1.5 Million in Awards, Scholarships

Ocean City High School celebrated the Class of 2019 recipients of scholarships and awards on Thursday, June 6. The awards, totaling nearly $1.5 million, were granted through local, regional, state and even some national scholarships.

“Toy Story 4” RV to Visit O.C. Boardwalk

Parents and kids who grew up with Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the “Toy Story” gang will be excited to know that a “Toy Story 4”-themed RV will be on the Ocean City Boardwalk in front of the Music Pier from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14. The RV will feature photo opportunities for fans, film-themed prizes, carnival games and lots of family-friendly fun. Juneteenth Organization to Honor Black Community With Celebration

The third annual Juneteenth Celebration and Brunch – one of only a few events of its kind in the area – will be held Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ocean City High School. During the celebration, there will be photographs, documents, and other artifacts chronicling the African American community in Ocean City, and histories shared from families in the community spanning many generations compiled in a documentary video.

Three New Ocean City Officers Graduate in Police Academy Class

Ocean City High School played host recently to graduation exercises for the 46th class of the Cape May County Police Academy. Fifty-eight newly minted police officers representing municipalities and organizations from around the state were awarded certificates, including three from Ocean City. One Ocean City graduate, Benjamin G. Bethea, made remarks on behalf of the class. The other two Ocean City Police Department recruits are Randall I. Clark and Jonathan C. Simonson.
