Special Weather Statement: Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Northeast winds gusting up to 45 mph and heavy rain are expected to contribute to flooding conditions.

Ocean City Edges Mainland in Soccer Rivalry

Ocean City High School boys’ soccer team hosted rival Mainland on Saturday morning, defeating the visiting Mustangs, 3-2. The win brings the Red Raiders’ record to 3-0 early in the season, while Mainland drops to 2-1. Ori Levy-Smith led all scorers with a goal and assist, while teammates John Lindsay and Ben Steiger each recorded a goal for the Red Raiders. Kyle Harper also notched an assist for Ocean City.

Ocean City Rolls Over Oakcrest, 48-0

The Jake and Joe Show simply was too much. Quarterback Jake Repetti threw four touchdown passes, three of them to wide receiver Jake Schneider, leading Ocean City to a dominating 48-0 win over Oakcrest on Friday night in Mays Landing.

Mayor’s Message: Oct. 9

Mayor Jay Gillian announced Friday that Halloween hours in Ocean City will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The N.J. Department of Health issued guidance this week for safely conducting trick-or-treating during the pandemic. Ocean City's Community Services Department is working to make free door hangers available to identify homes that will put out treats. More details follow in the mayor's weekly message.

County Forms Team to Study Opioid Overdose Deaths

Cape May County has created an Opioid Fatality Review Team to better understand and address overdose fatalities in the community and identify ways to prevent those deaths in the future, the county announced Friday. The county Health Department has received $100,000 in funding and support from the New Jersey Department of Health through an award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to establish the Overdose Fatality Review Team and address opioid abuse.

Ocean City Shuts Out Atlantic City

The Ocean City Red Raiders field hockey team blanked the visiting Vikings of Atlantic City, 9-0, in a conference match-up Wednesday afternoon. The Red Raiders honored their seniors in front of the home crowd as they outplayed their opponents for a full 60 minutes, leaving Atlantic City without registering a shot on the afternoon.

Six Traffic Lights Changing to Flash Mode for Off-Season

As of Monday, Oct. 19, six traffic lights in Ocean City will be placed on a seasonal flash mode until the spring. A list of the intersections that will have flashing lights follows.

Vote-by-Mail in Cape May County

This year will be the most unique election in recent memory, if only because it will primarily take place in New Jersey by a Vote-by-Mail process. This creates a lot of questions for some people who have never voted by mail.
