O.C. AARP Chapter to Host Medicare Webinar

On Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. the Ocean City AARP Chapter 1062 will hold a Zoom webinar on “Medicare Open Enrollment -- What You Need To Know.” During Medicare's annual open enrollment period of Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, Medicare beneficiaries are given the option to review their current coverage against the new plans that are on the market for Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare Part D drugs. OCHS Soccer Team Blanks Wildwood Catholic

The undefeated Ocean City High School boys soccer program continued its winning ways Tuesday afternoon, defeating visiting Wildwood Catholic, 9-0. All nine scores were tallied by different Red Raider players, showcasing their depth of offensive firepower.

Grant Funding Expands COVID-19 Testing in Cape May County

New grant funding coming to Cape May County will expand testing capabilities for COVID-19 over six months. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)-Enhancing Detection Grant comes through the New Jersey Department of Health for $552,513, it was announced Tuesday. Testing will be conducted four days a week for 26 weeks. Mobile testing will be conducted two days a week in all 16 municipalities on a rotating basis and another two days per week at the Cape May County Department of Health.

OCHS Showcases Seniors in Cross Country Dual Meet

The Ocean City High School boys and girls cross country programs honored their seniors with dominant performances over the visiting Middle Township Panthers on Monday afternoon. Both Red Raider teams posted perfect scores, 15-50, while taking the top seven spots on each side of the race. 

Businesses Affected by Pandemic Encouraged to Apply for NJEDA Grants

The Cape May County Business Recovery Task Force, Cape May County Economic Development and the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, under the direction of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, are encouraging all eligible county businesses that were affected by COVID-19 to pre-register and apply for Phase 3 Grant Assistance through the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. OCHS Field Hockey Team Falls in Overtime

The Ocean City High School field hockey team lost a heartbreaker against visiting Haddonfield on Saturday, falling 3-2 in overtime. The loss was the first for the Red Raiders this season and drops their record to 4-1, while Haddonfield improves to 5-1. Scoring for the Red Raiders were junior Olivia Vanesko on an assist from Tara McNally and senior Nya Gilchrist on an assist from Sophia Ruh. Ocean City’s junior goalkeeper Nora Bridgeford had four saves on the day.

Mayor Jay Gillian is urging everyone to continue taking safety precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 following a "small bump" in the number of local cases. "Together, we can help to minimize the spread of the virus and keep everybody safe and healthy," he said in his weekly message to the public Friday. His entire message follows.

OCHS Cross Country Teams Outrun Vineland

For the second straight week, the Ocean City High School cross country teams raced to victory, posting the top runners on both the boys and girls sides over visiting Vineland on Tuesday. Junior Owen Ritti and senior Erin Hanlon both recorded top times for Ocean City, with Ritti coming in at 16:33 and Hanlon at 21:14, respectively, for the 5K races.  Both Ocean City teams were able to complete a perfect score, winning the dual meet against Vineland, 15-50.

Lunches at American Legion Post 524 Resume

The popular American Legion Post 524 lunches will resume this Wednesday between 11:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. The weekly Wednesday lunch is open to the public, with a menu consisting of hot and cold sandwiches, as well as soup and salads. Details follow on the menu and how to place an order.
