The Ocean City Environmental Commission is hosting a lecture titled, "Ocean City’s Back Bays: Past, Present and Future," in person at 7 p.m. at City Hall and on Zoom Thursday, Nov. 10, to discuss ways they are working along with students and the city to protect the barrier island.

Favorite Tree Saved in Ocean City Affordable Housing Project

A towering tree at 224-226 Simpson Ave. in Ocean City has been a focal point of the neighborhood. After much discussion, the tree will remain and plans for a new duplex there to provide affordable housing were revised to set the house back a bit farther on the property, city officials said. The city and the Ocean City Housing Authority heard from residents who want the tree saved, and they listened.

South Jersey Rowing Clubs Partner

Two distinct forms of rowing, one on flat water, one in the ocean, both with members who are passionate about the sport and want to grow and develop their clubs. On Friday, the South Jersey Coastal Rowing Club (SJCRC) showcased four of its six new coastal sculling boats at a grand opening for its new location. It will share a boathouse under the 34th Street Bridge in Ocean City with the Under the Bridge Rowing Club, the only community rowing club in Cape May County. Community Enjoys Chamber of Commerce Welcome Night

The best way to get to know the community is easy. Just attend the annual Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Welcome Night. On Wednesday, local businesses, faith-based and civic organizations, and police, fire and city officials joined residents for a free night of giveaways, gifts, food and conversation.

The community has rallied to help a family of five who lost everything in a fire at their Ocean City home early Tuesday morning by setting up a GoFundMe page to raise money and replace some of what was destroyed.
