MS City to Shore Ride Set for the Weekend

Thousands of cyclists will descend on Ocean City this weekend for the MS City to Shore Ride, a fall tradition in Ocean City that draws participants from across the nation. With riders raising millions of dollars each year for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the MS City to Shore Ride boasts that it is the best cycling experience on the East Coast. The annual bicycle trek will begin in Cherry Hill early on Saturday, Sept. 24, and finish at the parking lot at Fifth Street and Boardwalk in Ocean City -- with many of the riders staying overnight and returning the next day. Motorists should expect delays along a route that travels from the Route 52 causeway to Bay Avenue to Fifth Street. For complete information, visit mssociety.donordrive.com.

O.C. Ecumenical Council Helps Feed Community

Regina Ralston went aisle by aisle looking to see what foods are needed to fill the shelves at the Ecumenical Council of Ocean City’s Food Cupboard. The Ecumenical Council of Ocean City is a faith-based organization made up of members whose mission it is to help feed and clothe those in need. Among other organizations, the Ecumenical Council partners with the city of Ocean City. Tucked inside St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, the Food Cupboard, run completely by volunteers and through donations from the community, has helped thousands of families and individuals who live in Ocean City.

Ocean City Farmers Market Ends Season Sweetly

The abundance of Jersey farm fresh veggies and fruits could have been the reason. Or, it could have been the location -- Ocean City -- during a summer of nearly continuous sun-splashed skies. Then there were the many crafters selling plenty household items to clothes, artwork and jewelry. Likely it was a little bit of it all that led to a banner -- if not -- best season for the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce Farmers & Crafters Market.

High School Holds Parent Night On Sex Ed. Curriculum

The topic was the much talked about revised health and sex education curriculum. Tuesday night, parents listened to Ocean City school officials explain some of the new guidelines and afterward, students and parents got to ask questions. The lightly attended session was the first in three meetings scheduled. The second will be at the Intermediate School Wednesday night at 6 p.m. and the third, also at 6 p.m., will be held at the Primary School on Thursday.

Wind Farm Developer to Hold Meeting in Ocean City Monday, Oct....

An offshore wind farm may be built at the shore as early as 2024. But before giant turbines can be put in the water, the developer needs a transmission line to make the entire project happen. A public hearing on the transmission line proposal is scheduled for Oct. 3 at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City.

Dan Garrabrant remembers when the twin towers of the World Trade Center were taken down by terrorists in planes. He was in his third year working as an FBI Special Agent assigned to the Newark office. He saw the plumes of smoke after a plane hit one of the towers. Pa. Man Drowns at Unprotected Beach in Ocean City

A Pennsylvania man drown at an Ocean City beach during rough surf conditions, authorities said in a release Thursday. The victim has been identified as Shawn Reilly, 56, of Thornhurst, Pa. At 12:23 p.m. Thursday, the Ocean City Beach Patrol's Rapid Response Team was alerted to two bathers in distress in the surf at an unprotected beach near 12th Street.
