Trail of Two Cities 5K Run on for Saturday Morning

The annual Trail of Two Cities run starts at the Transportation Center off Ninth Street in Ocean City and ends at JFK Park in Somers Point.

TrailTwoCitiesCourseMapThe 20th annual Trail of Two Cities 5K Run/Walk that travels the new Route 52 causeway between Ocean City and Somers Point is set for 8 a.m.  Sat., Nov. 7.

The event begins at the Transportation Center at Ninth Street and Haven Avenue in Ocean City and ends at JFK Park in Somers Point.

The south side of the causeway (inbound to Ocean City) will be closed to traffic from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. The point-to-point scenic course takes runners and walkers over the two tall bridges of the causeway.

Race day registration will be conducted starting 7 a.m. at the Transportation Center. Pre-registration is $25, if received by mail by Oct. 30 or online at www.lmsports.com if received by Nov. 4. Day of the race entry is $30. Immediate families up to four can register for $75. Families must pre-register and all forms must be received by Oct. 30.

Beat the crowd and pick up entry packet early (pre registrants only) Fri., Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1735 Simpson Ave.

Entry forms are available at the Somers Point Foundation for Education, 121 West New York Ave., in Somers Point, City Hall in Ocean City at first floor Welcome Center, 9th and Asbury Ave. or may be downloaded at www.ocnj.us under Recreation, Race events. Buses will be available at the finish line in Somers Point to transport participants to the start in Ocean City before the race, 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Buses will transport them back to Ocean City after the race. A finish and awards ceremony will be held at JFK Park after all have completed the course.

Awards include medals to First Over All Male and Female and to first three Males and Females in age groups Under 9 years, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus. Refreshments will be available at conclusion of event. “Puddles, the Water Van” will be at the finish site courtesy the New Jersey American Water Company.

No Pets, Bikes, Skateboards or Roller Blades will be permitted. Event is held rain or shine.
