A power boat carrying two people ran aground on North Street Beach in Ocean City early Tuesday afternoon, Ocean City spokesman Doug Bergen said in a release.

A second boat beached off Great Egg Harbor Inlet at the Malibu Beach Wildlife Management Area known as Dog Beach, he said.

A small caravan of boats was reportedly traveling from the Avalon and Stone Harbor area to Atlantic City for the In-Water Power Boat Show, which opens on Thursday. At the same time, a “Small Craft Advisory” was in effect, and northeast winds were gusting to 45 mph created heavy seas.

“The U.S. Coast Guard, Ocean City Police and Ocean City Beach Patrol responded. All boats are accounted for, and all passengers are safe,” Bergen said.

He noted that as of Tuesday afternoon, the boat on the beach at North Street was awaiting towing services.
