The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Boyar’s Food Market.
Located at 1340 Asbury Ave. in downtown Ocean City, Boyar’s has been a cornerstone of the community by serving generations of customers.
Boyar’s has evolved from its humble beginnings in 1924 as a neighborhood grocery store to its current status as a beloved Ocean City institution, according to a Chamber of Commerce news release.
Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday were three generations of the Ping family, the owners of Boyar’s Food Market. They included owners Gail and Scott Ping, their daughter, Lacey, and granddaughter Emma Welsh.
The Pings were joined by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Jay Gillian, Assemblyman Antwan McClellan, Cape May County Commissioners Melanie Collette and Bob Barr, local officials, and family and friends.
