Paone, Salvatore Leon- of Ocean City began his eternal reward on November 17, 2016. “Sal” was born on July 2, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA. While attending Elizabethtown College, he met the love of his life, his wife “Kitty”, to whom he was married for 58 years. Sal moved his family to Ocean City in 1968. He was a high school guidance counselor and basketball coach for many years. Sal had a love and concern for those young people he was responsible for. The last 20 or so years of his life was largely devoted to “guiding” and “coaching” his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended countless sporting events and school programs. He always offered encouragement and advice and his constant presence and approval was an anchor for his family. Large family dinners, times together, devotion to each other, and laughter (often at his expense) were the norm. He modeled both humility before God and a real concern and generosity for others that will be a continuing example to his family and those that knew him well. He is re-united with Kitty, who left this earth earlier this year. He is survived by sister Mary Pagano, children Kathy Johnson (Don), Ed Paone (Susan), and Lou Paone (Dawn), grandchildren Eddie (Mallory), Shauna (David), Brett, Amanda (fiancé Graham), Erik (Lauren), Katie, Louis, Alexis, Trevor and Hunter, and great grandchildren Tyler, Brianna, Cayden, and Andrew, and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Sal attended St. Francis Cabrini Church in Ocean City (St. Damien Parish) and grew daily in his love for and knowledge of Jesus. A mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, November 21. The service began at 9:45 am at St. Frances Cabrini, 2nd St. and Atlantic Ave, in Ocean City, with time to greet the family beginning at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the two charities Sal gave to most frequently, Samaritan’s Purse and Catholic Relief Services.
