The Ocean City lifeguards take pride in the fact they have participated in 106 Ocean City Baby Parades. This picture captures them pulling the Queen Infanta float carrying Queen Charlotte Benkert on August 14, 1946.

Richard Handschuch and Sal Marino, authors of The Beach Bum’s Guide to the Boardwalks of New Jersey, will be the speakers at the Ocean City Historical Museum’s 52nd annual luncheon. The following is from their book: “Just south of Great Egg Harbor Inlet lies the town of Ocean City. Be prepared to walk the friendliest boardwalk on the Jersey Shore.”

The luncheon will be held at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the historic Flanders Hotel. Stop by the Ocean City Historical Museum, 1735 Simpson Avenue, or call 609-399-1801, to purchase tickets ($40).
