The Ocean City Board of Education recognized two teachers and students from all three public schools for their achievements during a meeting Thursday.

Primary School first-grade teacher Mary Beth Libro and high school math teacher Caitlin Jagielski were honored for their work in education.

Libro and Jagielski were two of 12 educators in the state selected for the honor of 2023 “Emerging Leader” by the New Jersey Association for Curriculum and Development. The school board presented them each with certificates in honor of the recognition.

The teachers thanked the board. They each received certificates highlighting the accolade.

Keeping with the theme of honoring accomplishments in the school district, Students of the Month were recognized from all three schools, the Primary School, Intermediate School and High School.

Primary School Principal Dr. Cathy Smith announced the students who were honored in the primary school. They were selected for exhibiting excellence, the character trait of the month.

High School Principal Dr. Wendy O’Neal read the names and reasons why students were chosen as standouts for the month in both the intermediate and high schools. In addition, she read names of those who achieved academic excellence. Intermediate School Principal Mike Mattina could not attend the meeting.

Each student received a certificate and had their photos taken with other winners of the monthly selection and school officials.
