The Ocean City High School boys soccer team won in convincing fashion Monday afternoon, 6-1, versus visiting Oakcrest High School.

The win brings the Red Raiders to a perfect 6-0 on the season, while the Oakcrest Falcons drop to 1-4.

Leading all scorers on the afternoon was Lambros Koutsfetsoulis, with three goals and an assist. John Lindsay added a goal for the Red Raiders, while also assisting on three goals.

To complete Ocean City’s scoring, Connor Smith and Paul Tjoumakaris each contributed a goal and teammates Nick Volpe and Chris Catona chipped in on the assists column.

Andrae Johnson scored the lone goal for Oakcrest.

It was a picture perfect fall day for the Red Raiders to display their soccer skills. With the wind whipping across the field, the Raiders were able to adjust their passes and use their home field advantage to score early and often.

A celebration follows after Paul Tjoumakaris (10) scores.

It didn’t take long for Ocean City to get on the scoreboard as Koutsfetsoulis found the back of the net for his first goal of the contest with less than two minutes off the clock.

He would score again midway through the half, which opened the floodgates for Ocean City to rattle off five more unanswered goals. The Red Raiders would score four times in the first half as well as finish two more shots in the second half before Oakcrest put one up with under 25 minutes to play.

Ocean City Head Coach Aaron Bogushefsky was happy with how his team played.

“We have a few players battling injury right now and so we had guys step up and do their jobs which is great to see. It may sound cliché, but we have a ‘next man up’ mentality and everyone just fills the roles and does what is needed for the team,” Bogushefsky said.

The Red Raiders are enjoying a nice mix of youthful talent and experienced players.

“We have a young team this year but a nice group of senior leadership and a great balance between it all. The team has really bought in and it’s really showing on the field, so we are excited to see where the season takes us,” Bogushefsky said.

Ocean City will look to keep its win streak alive as it battles perennial power St. Augustine Prep on Thursday afternoon.

The defense prepares for a kick.
