Ocean City merchants, residents and city employees overcome their rhythmic challenges to prove they’re “happy” in a new video that was first shown to the public at a City Council meeting on Thursday.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce production features the community dancing to Pharrell Williams’ contagious pop song “Happy.”

The Chamber’s special events coordinator, Caitlin Greene, filmed Chamber members at a luncheon, the police and fire departments, a Zumba class, OC Paddleboard employees on the water, Yoasis Frozen Yogurt staff and customers, Manco & Manco employees and managers, and a host of other merchants and members of the community.

Chamber Marketing Director Shawnda McGinnis told City Council on Thursday that creation of the video came in response to a Facebook challenge from another East Coast beach town, Wrightsville Beach, N.C.

Council members gave the video an ovation after the final credits rolled.
