Mary Lou Smith, Miss Ocean City Beach Patrol, waved to the crowd as the lifeguards escorted the beach patrol’s float down the boardwalk in the 30th annual Baby Parade 75 years ago on August 18, 1939.
The lifeguards seen in the picture were, from left, Carl Scott, George Lafferty, Olaf Drozdov, Bill Voehl and William Blair.
The 105th annual Baby Parade will be held on Thursday, August 14, starting at 5 p.m. at Sixth Street and the Boardwalk. The OCBP lifeguards, for the 105th time, will participate in the parade.
