The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to officially welcome Shoppes at The Asbury to 801 Asbury Avenue in the downtown.

Shoppes at The Asbury is an enclave of upscale, boutique-style shops in the newly renovated former Crown Bank building.

The shops opened over Memorial Day weekend. They feature one-of-a-kind and higher-end merchandise. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

The owners are local brothers Raj and Yogi Khatiwala. They also own Stainton’s Gallery of Shops and Stainton’s by the Sea in Ocean City. They purchased the former Crown Bank building out of bankruptcy in February, saving it from auction.
