The Ocean City Police Department just unveiled a new off-road vehicle called the Mahindra Roxor that is reminiscent of the original Willys Jeep.

“The OCPD continues to try and find the most effective and cost efficient ways to patrol all of our many areas of responsibility,” said Lt. Pat Randles, the department’s spokesman.

The Roxor will enable officers to patrol the beach area while also allowing passenger space to assist transporting officers, medical staff, found children and water rescue equipment.

The vehicle is being offered at no cost for a trial period this summer.
