Located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Ocean City has been a popular summer destination since the late 1800s. This beautiful seaside town offers endless possibilities for fun, whether traveling alone, as a couple, or with the whole family.

With a wide variety of attractions, restaurants, bars, stores, and nightlife, there is something for everyone, as well as a beautiful beach.

To prepare you for the perfect vacation, we’ve compiled a list of the best things to do in Ocean City for an itinerary to give you the most unforgettable experiences.

Ocean City Beach

Going to the beach is one of the best things to do in Ocean City. There are 10 miles of beautiful beaches to swim, play in the sand, relax under your umbrella while reading a book, play some live casino online, or listen to an interesting podcast.

There is no additional charge or trip card to the beach, and lifeguards are on duty from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., though the beach is technically open until 10:00 p.m.

There are umbrellas and chairs for rent, and if you get hungry while sunbathing, plenty of restaurants and snacks are within walking distance.

Try the famous Ocean City donuts

Do you have a sweet tooth? The donuts here are delicious and have been a staple of Ocean City since 1976. People line up early in the morning to get one. However, you can get a hot donut at any time of the day.

You can enjoy the hot doughnut and choose from 19 different flavored glazes and 13 different fillings, including everything from cookie crumbs to crumbled bacon, mini marshmallows, and vanilla waffles. Or select one of their signature flavors like French Toast, Moret, or Peppermint Patty.

Walk the boardwalk

The second most popular activity in Ocean City is walking the historic boardwalk, which stretches for three miles, as it has been named one of the top ten boardwalks in the country.

At the end of the boardwalk are amusement parks, including a giant Ferris wheel and carousel from 1902, plenty of arcades and carnival games, and, of course, lots of food.

Along the way, you’ll also find various restaurants, beach stores, bars, hotels, and unique attractions like the Ocean City Life Station Museum and Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium.

Ride the Jolly Roger Attractions

Jolly Roger is Ocean City’s most prominent family amusement park and has been a family favorite for over 50 years. In addition to many rides, games, and miniature golf, there is plenty of carnival-style food, and the park has two unique attractions.

Speedworld offers the most extensive collection of go-karts and tracks in the country, and Cycle Cart Coaster is the world’s first trolley; this five-story roller coaster is over 1,500 feet long and combines go-karts and roller coasters to give you a thrill ride you’ll never forget!

The park is also home to Splash Mountain Waterpark, named “Funpark East Coast Waterpark” by Funworld magazine. It is a kid-friendly water park that offers a variety of attractions and engaging activities, such as a water roller coaster, a half-pipe slide, a lazy river, and much more.

Visit Jamaica in Ocean City

Another must-stop on your Ocean City vacation is Seacrets, a restaurant, raw bar, tiki bar, and nightclub combined into one that will make you feel like you just stepped into Jamaica.

During the day, you can enjoy a delicious family meal outdoors under the palm trees or swing your feet in the bay.

At night, you can party with the adults at the disco, tiki stage, and beach, with live music throughout the summer. While there, try an exclusive tropical drink like Electric Lemonade or a whole dish – Pain in de Ass, made with layers of rum and piña colada.

See the city view from above

If you are adventurous and you have a thirst for adrenaline, why not try parasailing and view the city from above? Paradise Watersports offers the opportunity to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Delmarva coastline from 400 to 800 feet above the water.

Do it only if you are not afraid of heights, otherwise it will be anything but fun!

Ocean City Art League

Art League of Ocean City is a newly renovated attraction in town that offers rotating exhibits of local artwork and seasonal events in a state-of-the-art gallery.

Located inside a spacious two-story gallery, the newly constructed home of the non-profit Art League of Ocean City facility features a ceramics studio, classrooms, an art library and five working artists’ studios.

Rent a bike

You should rent a bike if you want a unique way to get around this city.

Whether you’re traveling with friends, family, or in couple, biking the vast expanse of the entire city while viewing the beautiful historic landmarks and fascinating scenery is a captivating experience like no other.
