Dear Friends,

The restoration of the pool at the Aquatic and Fitness Center is complete, and the staff is completing adjustments of temperature and pH levels.

We expect the facility to reopen on a regular schedule early next week. I want to thank all members for their patience and understanding during this project.

I know it will be good to have your home pool back with a little time to get in shape for the summer.

Work crews are finishing the final crosswalks in the downtown streetscape improvement project and all lanes of Asbury Avenue will be open in plenty of time for the Spring Block Party on May 4.

All new pumping stations at the north end now have power, and they will be operational by May 1. While there are still some punch list items to be completed, the residents in this part of town will see the full benefits of our third major neighborhood drainage project.

We will continue to use the knowledge and experience we’ve gained from these projects as we address flood remediation in other areas of town.

Contractors are completing concrete work on the roadways south of 55th Street and paving (weather permitting) is expected to be complete by Memorial Day.

South Jersey Gas is also doing a lot of paving work throughout the city. Please understand that this work is designed only to restore roadways to their previous condition.

It is not part of the city’s approach to address all drainage, grading, accessibility and other issues during road projects. Please be careful in navigating detours.

All road work should be wrapping up in time for Memorial Day.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Warm regards,

Mayor Jay A. Gillian
