Keith Hartzell, candidate for Ocean City mayor, speaks straight from the heart to show how independent voices are coming together for the future of Ocean City.
“It’s time for a change in leadership in Ocean City,” states Councilman Keith Hartzell. “That’s not just my opinion, but what I’m hearing from the residents, and the opinion of fellow Councilmen.”
Ocean City already has a collection of independent voices in local government with Councilmen Keith Hartzell, Jody Levchuk, Tom Rotondi and Bobby Barr. But, with the current climate, these voices are coming together to create a united vision of leadership for the future of O.C.
“We need to preserve our town and secure our future,” says Mr. Hartzell. After going door-to-door and hearing from residents, “I saw a larger pattern of Ocean City moving in a glaringly wrong direction.”
This passion for keeping O.C. the way it is has fueled Keith to run for mayor.
What are the main points for Mr. Hartzell’s vision for the future of his beloved city? Eliminating any pathway to build large scale, 100-plus room hotels or condos on our Boardwalk, as we discovered was the plan of developers and owners from a firsthand account of the discussion on February 1.
Rejecting the proposed plan to import other communities’ sewage into Ocean City facilities, which was openly discussed by both county and local utility authorities as of January 2022.
Coordinated and communicated infrastructure projects. Responsible development, not over development. The building of a new, fiscally responsible, public safety building in the center of our town. But most of all, transparency and honesty in all projects.
Now, more than ever, the balance of our way of life in Ocean City is at a crossroad. The decisions and plans put in place today will affect not only this generation, but future residents. That is why getting out on Tuesday, May 10, is so important. Residents need to let their voices be heard; the change in leadership is in their hands.
“I believe OC deserves a mayor who is a passionate, transparent, and trustworthy advocate for the people,” Keith states. “I am that person. As mayor, my mission will be to preserve our town and secure our future.”
