The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, Jan. 30.
Dear Friends:
I would like to correct the information contained in my letter last week regarding how the beach replenishment project will proceed in the south end.
The contractor will begin to mobilize in Ocean City on April 8, 2015 and begin beach fill operations on May 1, 2015.  The project schedule calls for dredging operations to be complete on August 12, 2015.
The current plan is to have the dredge pipe come ashore near 41st Street. The beach fill will begin there and move north to 36th Street. The area from 41st Street south to 49th Street will be completed next.  Another dredge pipe will come ashore near 55th Street.  The beach from 55th to 49th Streets will then be completed moving south to north.  Lastly, the beaches from 55th Street to 59th Street will be completed from north to south.
This sequence of beach fill operations was not stated accurately last week, and I regret any confusion.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Michael Hartman, Artistic Director of the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company.  Earlier this week Michael was named one of the top ten pageant choreographers in the country coming in at number four. Michael is the producer and choreographer for New Jersey’s National Teenager and has produced and choreographed pageants in over 20 states.  We are very fortunate to have Michael right here in Ocean City leading our fantastic Theatre Company.
Speaking of the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company, they will present the Off-Broadway sensation “Forbidden Broadway Greatest Hits: Volume 1.” This family-friendly Broadway show rolls into town for three shows only on February 13 and 14 at 7:30 PM and February 15 at 2:00 PM at the Ocean City Music Pier. Forbidden Broadway is a guaranteed night of sidesplitting laughs and fantastic professional talent. What better time to provide a memorable evening at the theatre than Valentine’s Day?  For tickets visit www.ocnj.us/boxoffice.
Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
