Master Sergeant Michael Sears, surrounded by his family, is a reservist with the 177th Fighter Wing in Atlantic City. He works for Homeland Security as an Explosives Specialist.

Dear Friends,I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank Ocean City’s American Legion Post 524 for their hard work developing and promoting the Veteran’s Rest and Relaxation Program. Our American Legion and VFW do many wonderful things for our community, but this program is particularly special to me because it allows military families to spend quality time together and enjoy Ocean City.Arriving this weekend is Master Sergeant Michael Sears, his wife Jennifer and their three children. Master Sergeant Sears is a United States Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operator. He has served our Country all over the world; in the Western Pacific, Somalia and twice in Afghanistan. For his heroic and selfless actions in combat, Master Sergeant Sears was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. On behalf of the City, I wish Master Sergeant Spears a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, one that he and his family truly deserve.Programs such as the Veteran’s Rest and Relaxation Program could not happen without the leadership, commitment and hard work of the American Legion. I would also like to thank all of their partners, the many members of the business community who have made contributions, the Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion Riders and all of the groups who have taken a special interest in creating an unforgettable Ocean City Vacation for this family.I ask that any of you who get a chance to meet the Sears family, please welcome them to “America’s Greatest Family Resort” and thank Master Sergeant Sears for his service to our Country.
