New Jersey artist Heather Lynn Gibson brings her paintings to the Ocean City Arts Center today (August 4) through August 31. Ms. Gibson paints in oil and much of her work is landscape.
A “Meet the Artist” reception, free and open to the public, will be held Friday, August 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Her painting style has been described as “A Soft Touch” due to her art alla prima technique in which she paints wet-on-wet with her oils. This technique gives her paintings a lovely mix of both realism and impressionism.
Ms. Gibson is a graduate of the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then served as an intern for Walt Disney Feature Animation and upon graduation she was hired by the Disney Design Group. Ms. Gibson served as a Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director.
“We found Ms. Gibson last year at the Boardwalk Art Show and it is appropriate that we feature her in August during this year’s show,” Ocean City Arts Center Executive Director Rosalyn Lifshin said.
Ms. Gibson spends her free time in her studio capturing the things she loves on linen or traveling to inspiring places with pochade box in hand. She lives with her son in Berlin, New Jersey.
