The predicted rain never fell, and crowds enjoyed a cool and dry Fourth of July in Ocean City.
The beaches, boardwalk, stores and streets were jammed on Saturday as people took advantage of the surprisingly good weather.
Ocean City’s two annual Independence Day bike parades — one in the Gardens and one in the south end — went off on schedule — with families decked out in red, white and blue for the occasion.
Other special events included a kite festival, yo-yo demonstration, hula hoop contest and performance by the Tidal Wave Band in front of the Ocean City Music Pier.
The activities culminated in a 10 p.m. fireworks display launched from a barge off Ninth Street.
