On May 5, the Ocean City Skatepark was packed for a day of excitement at the eighth annual “Chica De Mayo” event hosted by local skateboarding whiz Zoe Herishen.

The event featured an all-girls skate event to promote girls and skateboarding, according to Willie Fannon, of Ocean City NJ Surf School.

“Over 30 participants showed up from all over the Northeast. It was a great turnout with a skate contest in the bowl for the advanced skaters and other games like skate limbo for the beginners,” Fannon said. “Lessons were also available for the newbies who wanted to try skateboarding for the first time.”
