Outdoor Table Sales, Sports Memorabilia Show Highlight Weekend

Downtown and Boardwalk merchants are looking forward to outdoor table sales throughout the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25. They will display their merchandise on tables set up outside their storefronts and offer discounts and specials. They will set up again for the weekend of May 1 and 2, when they also will hold a Virtual Spring Block Party with online deals. Also this weekend, vendors with merchandise and collector’s items representing a variety of sports and teams will be at the Ocean City Music Pier on Saturday, April 24 for the annual Sports Memorabilia Show.

Mayor’s Message: Beach Patrol Investigation Update

Mayor Jay Gillian said Tuesday that the city is handling allegations of sexual misconduct made against the Ocean City Beach Patrol with the "utmost urgency." Effective immediately, he has appointed his aide Michael Allegretto to oversee operations of the beach patrol and undertake a number of steps, the mayor announced in a statement. Fare Free Transportation Topic of AARP Webinar April 30

AARP will host a virtual discussion on Friday, April 30, at noon on “Why Drive This Summer When You Can Use Fare Free Transportation?” The guest speaker will be Wendy Galway-Glenz, the scheduler for Fare Free Transportation in Cape May County.

O.C. Officials Issue Statement on Rowdy Teens

The mayor’s office and police department have been working together to address issues related to large groups of young teenagers causing problems in Ocean City, according to a joint statement from Mayor Jay Gillian and Police Chief Jay Prettyman. Towns throughout the state have been dealing with the same concerns, they said. “As always, public safety will be the No. 1 priority for the entire city team,” Gillian said. Library Hosting Virtual Sign Language Classes

Mayor’s Message: April 16

Mayor Jay Gillian said Friday that the city was made aware this week of an Instagram account that describes predatory and sexually harassing behavior among members of the Ocean City Beach Patrol. The account includes anonymous posts about unnamed individuals inside and outside the workplace. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office has begun to investigate the allegations that have been posted there, the mayor said in his weekly message to the public. His entire message follows.
