Two Top Educators Join Forces, Friendship, at Ocean City High School

Two teachers who have proven they have that special talent to touch the lives and minds of students joined forces, albeit just for a day, to teach a class at the Ocean City High School. Ocean City High School American Sign Language teacher Amy Andersen, who won the 2018 New Jersey Teacher of the Year award, invited National Teacher of the Year, Mandy Manning, of Spokane, Washington, to stay at her home since the two were attending a weekend state teachers’ conference in Princeton.

Run for the Fallen Makes Emotional Stops in Ocean City

Victims of the 9/11 terror attacks were honored, along with other members of the military who have died, in an emotional tribute during the annual New Jersey Run for the Fallen on Thursday. Members of the military run to honor lost soldiers. The runners visited 72 markers throughout Cape May County, including 12 in Ocean City.

On Friday, an event will take place that could change people’s lives for the better. And it is happening in Cape May Court House. “Safe Surrender” will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lighthouse Church located at 1248 Route 9 South. It is part of the Stop Running and Start Living Again campaign and allows those with outstanding warrants to turn themselves in with no threat of arrest, officials said.

Panelists Say “No” to Recreational Marijuana at Cape May County Symposium

Health experts, law enforcement officers and lawmakers Tuesday denounced a proposal to legalize marijuana, saying that it could be a gateway drug, pose a danger on the highways and create an atmosphere where people would be walking around and going to work high. The marijuana symposium was held at the Avalon Golf Club in Cape May Court House and was hosted by the drug treatment and prevention center Cape Assist, based in Wildwood. The event focused on recreational use of marijuana. Speakers agreed that medical marijuana use is needed, recreational is not.

Diehard Car Buffs Brave Rains For Ocean City Corvette Show

Constant rains pelted the Ocean City Boardwalk. It left those who ogled Corvettes on display to don umbrellas. But the rains just beaded off the pristine, glossy, gleaming displays of cars that represent the best of American motors. Now in its 28th year, the event is organized and sponsored by Boardwalk Corvettes of Atlantic City. Proceeds from registration fees benefit local charities including the Ocean City Humane Society. It is considered one of the top five Corvette shows in the country, organizers said.

Walk For Wounded Bonds Veterans, Inspires Others in Ocean City

Many veterans who were injured while serving their country joined with their families, friends and supporters for the 10th annual Walk for the Wounded on Saturday in Ocean City. A ceremony in front of the Music Pier honoring the soldiers kicked off the event before participants made their way on the Boardwalk from Sixth Street to 14th Street while walking in unison.
