The Art of Surfing Festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary at the Ocean City Music Pier from Thursday to Saturday (July 30 to Aug. 1).

Admission is free, and hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Music Pier is on the Ocean City Boardwalk between Eighth and Ninth streets in Ocean City, NJ.

Ocean City’s Aaron Bogushefsky, an art teacher in the Ocean City School District, has done an amusing and original poster for the event. The poster will be for sale along with an array of surfing artwork from nationally acclaimed artists.

There will be a book signing by Paul Kosten on “The Progressive Art of Body Surfing” and signed copies of other books available.

Live music will be featured nightly from 7 to 10 p.m. Bands include:

  • Thursday: ’80s Revenge
  • Friday: Blue Wave Theory
  • Saturday: Sharkskin (wearing sharkskin suits).

A yoga surfing session will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday by Local Lou. It will benefit the Heart of Surfing Organization that helps autistic children learn to surf. Cost is $10 per person.

An exhibit of surf memorabilia will be presented by Bill Simon and there will be much more. For information, call Steve Miller at (609) 744-3229.
