OCNJ Daily reported Sunday that the work on the boardwalk reconstruction project between Sixth and Seventh streets was making good progress and that sections of pre-constructed decking were on site.
Bob Bolen was on the boards Monday morning as the first section of decking was lowered into place. He passed along the following images.
By the end of the day, crews had placed several sections and illustrated the efficiency of using the preconstructed sections. The work also offers a good glimpse of the cross-section of three-inch-thick southern yellow pine that Ocean City officials hope will endure longer than the traditional two-bys used on much of the rest of the boardwalk.
