A successful new program called “County Coffee Chat” is being continued on Monday, Feb. 11, by the Cape May County Freeholder Board.

The event will bring Freeholders Jeff Pierson and Marie Hayes to Yianni’s Café inside the Ocean City Community Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Community Center is located at 1735 Simpson Ave.

The idea of the event is to provide a casual atmosphere allowing local residents to ask questions related to county government over a cup of coffee.

“I enjoyed having the community come out and speak their mind on what is going on,” Pierson said. “I am very excited to keep it going in 2019.”

The first County Coffee Chat was held Dec. 10 at the Dunkin Donuts in Marmora.

In future months, the freeholders will appear in other municipalities to make it easier for all county residents to speak with their elected officials. Future dates will be announced soon.

“It’s always great to host an event like this in Ocean City, where I live,” Hayes said. “I think it is another way to have the freeholder board be more responsive to our community.”
