Philanthropic organizations seldom gain opportunities to observe the benefits of their charity. After receiving a $20,000 grant award, United Methodist Communities Foundation, Annual Giving Officer, Gary Engelstad, extended an invitation to Investors Bank to highlight their stewardship.

They graciously accepted the offer and an onsite visit was arranged for United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen in Newton, New Jersey. On April 28 three Investors representatives arrived: Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, Richard Spengler; and Ron Krauskopf and James Vincenti, senior vice presidents of Business Lending – Healthcare.

Led by Bristol Glen Executive Director Sarah Ur; the three executives toured the four-story, Continuing Care Retirement Community, which opened in 2001. Accompanied by United Methodist Communities President and CEO, Larry Carlson and Vice President of Finance, Richard D. Wilson, they viewed a remodeled apartment, chapel, rotunda, fitness center, private dining room, Country Store and other highlights.

Following the tour, amid a small group of staff, residents and board members, representatives from both organizations made remarks. “Contributions from partners like Investors, complement United Methodist Communities’ values, parallel our social consciousness and strengthen all our communities across New Jersey, including Bristol Glen.” stated Carlson.

Addressing the group, Krauskopf recalled, “I first met United Methodist Communities Vice President of Finance, Richard Wilson, in 2012. After several conversations, we established a business relationship that proved mutually beneficial and has continued to this day.”

Investor representatives then presented a ceremonial $20,000 grant award check, earmarked for United Methodist Communities’ Fellowship Fund, which sustains its charitable mission.
