Pilings and joists are in place across about a third of the project area between Sixth and Seventh streets in Ocean City, NJ, where the boardwalk will be completely replaced.

A project to replace the boardwalk from Sixth Street to Plaza Place (just north of Seventh Street) continues to make good progress.

Boardwalk pedestrians and cyclists are awaiting the return of an uninterrupted round-trip on the 2.45-mile boardwalk.

About two months after work began, pilings and joists are in place across about a third of the project area. The contractor has a deadline of Easter Weekend (April 4 and 5) at the latest, but work appears to be proceeding much more quickly than in a similar project last winter. Decking is being constructed in sections off-site.

The boardwalk is barricaded at Fifth Street and Seventh Street as the second phase of the multi-year project to rebuild the boardwalk and its substructure between Fifth and 12th streets proceeds. Runners, cyclists and pedestrians are being detoured off the boardwalk during the project.
