The Hot Box Girls will strut their stuff in “Guys and Dolls” July 8 to 10 on the Ocean City Music Pier.

The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company and the Ocean City Pops Orchestra will once again team up to bring Broadway to America’s Greatest Family Resort with a new production of “Guys and Dolls.”

A four-performance run at the historic Ocean City Music Pier at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday (July 8 and 9) and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (July 10)  will feature professional singers, dancers, actors and musicians. With its unforgettable songs and cast of gamblers, gals and gangsters, “Guys and Dolls” is musical entertainment you can bet on.

Set in the hustle and bustle of prohibition era New York City, “Guys and Dolls” soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters including: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission doll,” out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating craps game.

“Guys and Dolls” will be directed by Michael Hartman, choreographed by Anne Vick, and musical direction will be provided by Jonathan Kreamer. The creative team also includes James Hartman/Peggy Fotusky (Sets), Felicia Bangor (Costume Coordinator), Todd Williams (Lighting Designer), Catherine Brogan (Wig Design), Laura Bretherick (Production Stage Manager), and Stephanie Thompson (Assistant Stage Manager).

Maestro William Scheible serves as conductor for the Ocean City Pops Orchestra.
John Anker Bow, an Ocean City Favorite and successful Regional Theatre Actor/Director will bring to life the hilarious role of Nathan Detroit with OCTC newcomer Abby Hart playing the character driven Miss Adelaide.

Abby Hart has spent the past year playing Angelina Ballerina off-Broadway and across the country in Angelina Ballerina the Musical. Playing the slick and smooth Sky Masterson is Brandon Schraml who is back for a second season with OCTC. Schraml is originally from Kansas City, Missouri and he has performed in 48 of the 50 states on four national tours (including Ring of Fire first national) and in numerous regional theaters. Rounding out the leading players is Elena Pascullo who will portray the pure-at-heart Sarah Brown. With regional theatre credits including Marvelous Wonderettes (Suzy), The Rocky Horror Show (Magenta), and Peter Pan (Tiger Lily), Elena will be sure to wow OCTC audiences in her OCTC debut.

Tickets for the “Guys and Dolls” are priced from $25 to $30 and advance reservation is encouraged. For tickets and information, call (609) 525-9248, visit www.ocnj.us/boxoffice, or visit the Music Pier box office in person at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
