Ocean City High School hosted it’s National letter of Intent Signing Day for the student-athletes yesterday. The athlete’s families, friends and teammates were on hand to cheer them on.
Athletic Director Vince Leavey lead the festivities and shared with the audience the statistics associated with the number of high school athletes that get the opportunity to play for a Division 1 or II College program. On average less that 6% make it to that level. He praised them and their families for their efforts and dedication.
Leavey then called each of the athletes to the signing table, as he outlined their individual accomplishments. In all eight student-athletes committed and posed for some group pictures.
Afterwards, each of the athletes had an opportunity to have an individual photo session with their loved ones and friends. Below are each of them and the school that the have chosen to attend:
Sofia Cooper – Crew – Jacksonville University
Dan Nunan – Baseball – University of Delaware
Shannon O’Reilly – Field Hockey – LaSalle University
Jesse Schmeizer – Cross Country/Track – Lafayette College
Maren Stickley – Crew – University of Miami
Maggie Wallace – Swimming – Indiana University
Alexa Weber – Cross Country/Track – St. Joseph’s University
Ryann Styer- Swimming- University of South Carolina
