The Humane Society of Ocean City was notified by Trupanion on Jan. 7 that we were selected as 2014 Shelter of the Year, an award to be presented at the 60th annual ProPlan Show Dog Awards ceremony on Feb. 14 in Gotham Hall, New York City.

The award was based on everything the Humane Society does, including the shelter, veterinary center, animal rescue, animal control, behavioral modifications, public education, pet therapy, alumni initiatives, emergency planning and working with other rescues.

The selection process was determined by editorial teams of Dogster and Rescue Proud Magazines and the staff of Trupanion.

We are one of only a select few across the country that offer all of these innovative community-based programs. Ocean City has always been recognized as America’s family resort. However, now it also has a shelter that has been acknowledged as one of the leaders in modern day sheltering.

“We are honored and this award was achieved by our dedicated staff, board of directors, volunteers, the animals that we serve, as well as the City of Ocean City agencies and its residence. We truly live up to our motto: “Providing the highest level of compassion and service to our animal friends.”
