A coastal storm that will continue to hit Ocean City on Thursday morning could bring two inches of rain, winds stronger than 35 mph and minor tidal flooding.
High tide on Thursday morning on the flood-prone bay side of Ocean City comes at 9:32 a.m., and residents may want to consider moving vehicles to high ground, particularly if the tide coincides with a period of heavy rain.
The strongest effects from a system that will affect the entire mid-Atlantic region will be felt closer to the coast.
The heaviest rain from the storm is expected to fall Thursday morning. More than two inches is possible along the coast.
Easterly winds will increase on Wednesday, gusting over 35 mph at times.
The onshore flow could produce minor tidal flooding along the entire coast. “Minor” tidal flooding typically covers low-lying streets in Ocean City.
Check the tide level in real time (NAVD 88 scale) from the Bayside Center on the bay at Fifth Street.
The strong northeast winds should generate 7- to 10-foot swells offshore, according to the marine forecast. The wind is not expected to fade until Friday, when surf conditions could begin to improve.
