OCHS Crew Team Hosting Fundraiser

Ocean City High School’s crew team is holding a fundraiser at Harbor Square Movie Theatre in Stone Harbor. For $35 a ticket, you get an appetizer, an entrée, soda and a movie ticket. Tickets can be purchased now through March.

Breaking News: High School Safely Evacuated Following Social Media Threat

Ocean City High School has been evacuated following a threat to students and staff posted on social media, according to a security alert from the school district. Police have been called to the high school to investigate. “All students are safe, but we are taking the threat serious” the alert says. “The district will continue to work with Ocean City Police and communicate with parents once we know more information.”

Republican Club, Waves of Caring Team Up to Help Families in...

The Ocean City Republican Club hosted its annual members Christmas party this year at the Flanders Hotel. Guests were decked out in holiday garb with red and green and sequins abound, but this year there was an added holiday sparkle – unwrapped, donated gifts for local families struggling to put presents under the tree. The club, at the advice of Cape May County commissioner and club member, E. Marie Hayes, decided to give back to the Ocean City community, pairing up with the charity group Waves of Caring, which helps families in need throughout the year, not just at the Christmas season.

New Crosswalk Protects Ocean City Intermediate School Students

Installation of a new crosswalk at 20th Street and Bay Avenue near the Ocean City Intermediate School is now complete. The crosswalk includes vinyl reflective striping and flashing lights on the road shoulders. The lights are timed to operate when students are going to school and coming home. They also can be user-activated at all other times.

Mayor Jay Gillian is extending his thanks to the Colony Club of Ocean City, the Exchange Club of Ocean City and Cousin’s Restaurant owner Bill McGinnity for their support of the American Legion Post 524 Dinner Program. The program was started in 2020 during the pandemic shutdown, and it provides fresh dinners to Ocean City seniors, widows of deceased post members and local residents dealing with medical issues. "The program has delivered more than 2,000 meals to date — through the volunteer efforts of American Legion and Exchange Club members and other community volunteers. All food is prepared by Cousin’s Restaurant, and the Colony Club recently donated $600 to the program," the mayor said in his weekly message to the public Friday. His full message follows.

Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Renovated Building

The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its revitalized and renovated headquarters on Friday. The Chamber’s Board of Directors, the Capital Campaign Committee, the Board of Trustees, Cape May County Commissioners, Commissioner Director Gerald Thornton and Assemblyman Antwan McClellan celebrated the redesign and rebuild of the Chamber’s headquarters, according to a news release.

ACCC Collecting Toys For Community Drive

Collections are underway for Atlantic Cape Community College’s Toy Drive for Hope, collecting new and unwrapped toys for children ages two to 12 years old, to be distributed at an upcoming community holiday event.

Board of Realtors Donates to Ocean City Historical Museum

The Ocean City Board of Realtors raised more than $2,000 for the Ocean City Historical Museum through a virtual Bubble Mania event. Due to the cancellation of the Ocean City Air Festival at the Ocean City Municipal Airport, the Bubble Mania event was transformed into a virtual fundraiser in September, according to a news release.
