Boy Charged With Arson in Acme Fire

Police charged a 12-year-old Ocean City boy with arson on Tuesday in the weekend fire that closed the Acme supermarket on Eighth Street and West Avenue indefinitely. The boy, whose name was not released due to his age, was charged with aggravated arson, failure to report a fire, risking widespread injury and damage, aggravated assault and criminal mischief, according to a press release from the Ocean City Police Department.

The Ocean City High School boys soccer team defeated the visiting Burlington Township Eagles, 3-0, on Saturday in the first round of the Southwest D Group 3 soccer playoffs. The Red Raiders will take on Northern Burlington in the quarterfinal round Tuesday at Ocean City.

Special Weather Statement: Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 6 a.m. to noon on Sunday. A new moon and strong southerly winds are expected to cause minor tidal flooding. Water levels will peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at 7:48 a.m. Sunday.

Ocean City Takes Playoff Win Over St. Joseph

The Ocean City Red Raiders secured a 12-7 win against the visiting St. Joseph Wildcats during Friday night’s West Jersey Football League Bracket B semifinal playoff game. It was the sixth straight win for Ocean City and the first time the Raiders defeated St. Joe since 1976.

National Day of Awareness on Disposal of Prescription Drugs

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) is raising awareness about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and encouraging safe disposal of prescription drugs through the American Medicine Chest Challenge – New Jersey (AMCC-NJ) National Day of Awareness being held this Saturday. AMCC-NJ is a community-based national public health initiative held in partnership with law enforcement partnership, with collection sites throughout New Jersey. OCHS Shuts Out Lower Cape May in Girls Soccer

Ocean City High School’s girls soccer team blanked the visiting Lower Cape May Tigers on Monday afternoon, 9-0. The win improves the Red Raiders’ record to 7-0-1, while Lower drops to 1-5. The teams, which just played each other last Thursday, met again with the same outcome – a shutout in Ocean City’s favor. The Red Raiders outscored the Tigers a combined 18-0 in both games. With one of the top-producing offenses in the state, Ocean City showcased its one two-punch with Summer Reimet and Faith Slimmer dominating the scoreboard.
