But from time to time, the nearly century-old building needs some TLC. In the latest bit of maintenance, the city is planning to make repairs to the Music Pier's substructure at a cost of about $518,000.

A weekend snowstorm that blanketed the area meant one thing for some visitors to Ocean City. It was time to make snowmen, stroll the boards, grab a slice of pizza and just “chill.” While it wasn’t like the Boardwalk was bustling with visitors Saturday afternoon, there were people out from groups to solos. Horseshoe crabs are sea creatures that have been around for millions of years. They are not crabs. In fact, they are most closely related to the arachnid family. While they can be viewed by some as sci-fi looking, they are an important part of the ecosystem, according to marine scientists.

Local Equestrian Ranks No. 2 in Nation

Regan Capone has grit. At 4-foot-10 inches tall, weighing in at about 92 pounds, the Ocean City Intermediate School student can soar in the air nearly 3 feet. Well, she does it with the help of her pony, Tia Maria. And it isn’t that the 13-year-old Sea Isle City resident is good at riding horses. She excels at it. In fact, Regan and Tia Maria, a Welsh pony-thoroughbred cross, just added more accolades to a long list of them over the last few years.

Ocean City Tweaks Rules For Boardwalk Entertainers

Ocean City’s Boardwalk becomes a veritable entertainment mecca over the summer for an assortment of singers, musicians and other street performers hustling for tips. But over the years, since an ordinance was adopted in 2017 creating some guidelines on the entertainers, namely the hours of play and locations, there have been some revisions. The latest significant change came in 2019, when City Council eliminated the use of amplifiers by the Boardwalk entertainers. Fast forward to 2024. Council introduced an ordinance Thursday night that would restrict where the performers could play, for how long and increases the cost of the license to perform.
