A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for Ocean City through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The forecast calls for continued northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph on Tuesday before starting to diminish slightly on Wednesday. A High Surf Advisory also will be in effect through Tuesday.

Water levels are predicted to crest in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at the following times:

  • 4:15 p.m. Tuesday: 6.7 feet MLW forecast
  • 4:58 a.m. Wednesday: 5.3 feet MLW forecast
  • 5:25 p.m. Wednesday: 5.9 feet MLW forecast

By comparison, the peak water level on Monday afternoon (Oct. 3) reached 6.53 feet MLW. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare this prediction to other recent and historic tide levels.

Residents should be prepared to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of these high tides. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Parking at all municipal parking lots will be free (though residents should be aware that access to and from these lots may be limited during peak tides).

Parking also will be available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora (please read letter from Trinity if you take advantage of this service).

Residents should secure loose items outdoors in yards and on decks.

For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.

For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
