The Ocean City Baby Parade returns to the Boardwalk for the 110th time at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.
The annual tradition offers a chance for parents to show off Ocean City’s newest generation.
The parade features children (ages 10 and under) cruising the Ocean City Boardwalk in themed strollers, wagons and floats.
It starts at Sixth Street with children finishing at the Music Pier (at Moorlyn Terrace) and all other entries continuing to 14th Street.
Participants can sign up at the Welcome Center on the ground floor of City Hall at Ninth Street and Asbury Avenue. Entry fee is $5 per child.
The parade is free to watch from either side of the Boardwalk. Spectators are welcome to bring beach chairs to watch from the railing along the ocean side of the Boardwalk. On the parade morning, the Boardwalk will close to bicycle traffic at 10 a.m.
Marching bands from Pitman High School and Wildwood High School will participate, along with the Ed Coles Band and Fred Hall.
The Give and Take Jugglers will perform inside the Ocean City Music Pier after the parade as participants wait for awards. Other highlights of the parade include the OCTC Spotlight Performers Show Choir, the cast of “Newsies,” Martin Z. and Mollie Mollusk, Queen Infanta 2019 Emma Rodriguez, the Ocean City Yacht Club, and more.
Sky Brown, an 11-year-old skateboarding sensation with an international following, will be grand marshal of the parade. She will meet with fans and give skateboard and surfing demonstrations in addition to participating in the parade.
Brown is a professional skateboarder and surfer from Miyazaki, Japan. With a Japanese mother and a British father, she chose to compete for Team Great Britain in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making her the youngest athlete to compete there. She also will be Great Britain’s youngest Summer Olympian ever, and the youngest Olympic athlete since 1936.
Brown began skating and surfing at age two and quickly became a phenomenon when short videos of her gained millions of views on YouTube. In the fall of 2018, she became the first-ever winner of ABC’s hit competition show, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”

- 10:30 a.m.: Grand marshal of the 110th annual Baby Parade
- Noon to 1 p.m.: Meet-and-greet at the Music Pier (tickets are $15 each)
- 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Meet-and-greet at the Ocean City Skate Park (tickets are $30 each)
- 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Skate Demonstration and open skating at the Skate Park with ticketholders

DISNEY’S ‘NEWSIES’ RUNS AUG. 6 TO 9
The Ocean City Pops and the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company (OCTC) will present four performances of “Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical”s as part of OCTC’s 12th season. The shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (Aug. 6, 7 and 9) and at 2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 8) at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center (beach block of Sixth Street).
Set in turn-of-the century New York City, “Newsies” is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions.
Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, “Newsies” features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (“Little Shop of Horrors,” “Sister Act”) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (“Kinky Boots”). Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day” and “Santa Fe,” “Newsies” is packed with thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

AUGUST 10 – Ocean City Fishing Club’s 44th annual Boys’ and Girls’ Surf Fishing Tournament: Registration for the free event will begin at 9 a.m. at the north end beach near the Ocean City-Longport Bridge. Parents or guardians will be asked to sign a waiver for insurance purposes before their children can participate.
Each child must bring his or her own fishing gear and bait.
Fishing starts at 10 a.m. and ends at noon followed by an awards presentation.
The tournament has three age categories: 8-10, 11-12, and 13-16 years old, with a boys’ and girls’ division in each grouping. Parents can help those 8-10 years old cast, but those youngsters have to do their own fishing after that.
Three anglers who catch the most fish in each age category will win a rod and reel. The boy and girl who land the biggest fish overall will receive bicycles and trophies. OCFC members will be on hand to measure fish caught to determine winners, as well as give expert advice. The event will be held rain or shine.
AUGUST 10 – Miss Ocean City Pageant: 7 p.m. at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
Miss Ocean City 2019 Megan Keenan will be on hand as contestants compete in interview, talent, swimsuit, evening gown and onstage question. Contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 22. For more information, call 609-399-6111. Tickets will be available at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice.
AUGUST 11 — Katherine Jenkins, one of Great Britain’s all-time favorite singers, will join the Ocean City Pops Orchestra for a special concert on August 11. Jenkins was officially crowned the No.1 selling “Classical Music Artist of the Last 25 Years” by Classic FM.
She made chart history when her last album, “Celebration,” became her 12th UK Classical No.1 album in 12 years.

AUGUST 12 and 13 — Get the Led Out: A summer tradition continues as Philadelphia-based tribute band Get the Led Out returns to the Music Pier for two nights of Zeppelin music.
