The Ocean City Board of Education on Wednesday recognized a record 54 students in grades three to eight who received a perfect score on at least one section of New Jersey’s standardized ASK test.

The board also honored 11 Ocean City High School students who have been named AP Scholars and commended students to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Ocean City High School Seniors Lauren Bowersock and Benjamin Fischer were named commended students to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The school also had six AP Scholars with Honor and five AP Scholars with Distinction.

AP Scholars with Honor is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and score a 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The Ocean City High School seniors receiving the AP Scholar with Honor are Ryan Beebe, Justin Booth, Benjamin Fischer, Robert Phillips, Rachel Stremme and Lindsay Wan.

The Ocean City High School seniors receiving the AP Scholar with Honor Lauren Bowersock, BriarRose Ginn, Mercy Griffith, Emma Leeds and Laura McKinley.

During the 2013-2014 school years, the Ocean City School District had 54 students score perfect scores of 300 on one of the tests. A 300 is the highest score possible on the NJ ASK Tests. Fifty-three of the perfect scores came on the math portion of the test. None came in the verbal portion (because of a subjective writing section, a perfect English score is harder to achieve). The ASK tests were administered in spring 2014.
