When it comes to money matters, especially in these uncertain times with drastic fluctuations in the stock market, inflation, college tuition increases and unemployment, things can get complicated.

The team at Ocean City Financial Group (OCFG), made up of founder Mark Reimet and financial planners Jodie Booth and Chris Kent, wants to help people navigate through all of the hard questions and give sound financial advice.

That is why OCFG is hosting in-person and Zoom seminars to help ease some of the stress for people mapping out their financial future, retirement or college career.

On May 18, the team hosted its first live seminar following the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought out more than 50 people interested in their financial future.

“In these uncertain economic times, our clients are wondering what Ocean City Financial Group is doing to preserve what they have and position their accounts for future growth,” said Reimet, a certified financial planner who opened the OCFG office in 1997 after working in Philadelphia and New York City for several years. “In this difficult environment, we want to stay in touch with our investors to provide educational information on how we are navigating the down market.”

The seminar in May at Greate Bay Country Club focused on the current financial climate and the constant changes in the market.

“We want to remind our clients that the stock market has cycles and to try not to be emotional in their investment decisions,” Booth said. “The stock market usually goes through a correction every six to seven years. We had a long bull market; we have been through this before.”

Among the speakers at the seminar at Greate Bay was Vince Tassone, a vice president at First Trust. He discussed the current economy and the road to recovery. Andrew Hull, also a vice president at First Trust, discussed investment opportunities involving green energy.

While the event was meant to be informative, it was also geared toward having a good time and enjoying dinner with others concerned about their financial portfolios, Reimet’s assistant Kristina Krautblatt said.

OCFG plans on hosting events every six months that will also include presentations from experts in the financial field. The team is planning on holding quarterly educational events.

The next presentation will be about Social Security. It will be a Zoom seminar, since it will be held in the summer, when people are away or on vacation. The following event will be in the fall and in-person. The subject matter in the fall is yet to be determined, Krautblatt noted.
