Did you know that property and mortgage fraud is increasing nationwide? Scammers record fraudulent documents, like fake deeds and fake liens that, in some cases, are not discovered for years.

On Friday, Feb. 18 at 12:30 p.m., Cape May County Clerk Rita Rothberg will speak at an Ocean City AARP Chapter 1062 event about a free fraud-protection service offered in the county. The presentation will be in person in Room 110 at the Ocean City Free Public Library as well as on Zoom.

Specifically, the service notifies you immediately via email whenever a document with your name on it is recorded in the County Clerk’s office.

This service is the first step in protecting your property. Find out how to sign up for the service and what it means to you.

You must register to attend the seminar via Zoom. Tina Cortese may be reached via email tina@barneslawgroupllc.com and will provide the registration link. The Zoom event is sponsored by Jeffrey Barnes, attorney at Barnes Law Group.
