Mayor Jay Gillian

Dear Friends,

I want to update you on our efforts to clear the streets after yesterday’s major snowfall. Our Public Works team has been working around-the-clock since the day before the storm and made great progress under extremely challenging conditions. We have every staff member and every plow working.

The emergency routes, north-south avenues and numbered streets are now passable. The fleet will continue to work through for as long as it takes to clear all other streets and alleys. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to recover from this exceptional snowfall.

The Ocean City Community Center, including the Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Ocean City Free Public Library, reopened at noon today, Jan. 4. The Howard S. Stainton Senior Center will remain closed all day. City Hall remains open on a regular schedule.

Municipal court sessions scheduled for Tuesday via Zoom have been canceled. All Ocean City schools are closed today. Trash and recycling pickup has been suspended again on Tuesday, and the contractor will work to complete all routes by the end of the week.

Be cautious in shoveling out your properties, and please look after your neighbors.

Warm regards,

Mayor Jay A. Gillian
